This international symposium is directed by Simone ten Hompel, winner of the 2005 Jerwood Applied Arts prize, and Reader in Silversmithing and Jewellery at the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design, London Metropolitan University.

The keynote speech for the conference is by the eminent Dutch applied art historian Marjan Unger and other speakers include Helen Carnac, Patrick Letschka and Paul Scott.
